For this episode the guys head off to Mineral Wells, Texas for an investigation at the Baker Hotel, which has it’s claim to fame because of the mineral springs that were discovered in the area. During that time, the water claimed to have healing properties and would promote good health.
As with so many places like this, there is far more legend than fact. It’s believed there were murders and suicides. "Everyone knows the story of…" and proceed to tell of a woman trying to jump from the hotel balcony into the pool. Clearly, she misjudged the distance. And there is the story of the hotel mistress who was either pushed or jumped from the top story window.
The claims also see standard fair with phantom smells and the feeling of being touched. Yet again, there is the "woman in white" who runs down the halls. Interestingly, no physical evidence is associated with any of these claims.
So what evidence our intrepid trio come up with? As they scout the area and talk with Mark, a contractor who is working to restore the place, a door mysteriously opens behind them. No slamming, just a slight swing of the door. Mark and Nick claim they feel chills and cold spots right after the event starts happening.Certainly interesting, but is this anything more than just an old door slowly creaking open? Or do they really have a spirit trying to open the door? Unfortunately, it doesn’t happen again, so who knows. However, they do get an EVP which they believe is saying, "drink the water".
Once the lockdown has started, the three of them are standing on the upper floor when Zak starts to feel odd. He seems to have a cloud over him and they claim to see a shadow moving behind him. Is Zak feeling the effects of something sinister or is he having a reaction to all the debris that is flying around in the air? He has the mask on, but is there something more natural having an effect on him?
They split up and Aaron heads to the basement. He gets the word, "story" and "mommy" come through on the Ovilus. Next, there is the rather distinct sound of a girl saying, "mommy". Was there really just a spirit girl asking for her mom? Or is there some sound filtering from outside? It would be unusual, but not impossible. He is in an old building and who knows where the piping and venting go. If not, that is a most bizarre coincidence.
Aaron gets lots of noises and laughter of a little girl in the area he’s in. It does seem like there is a little girl playing down there. Oddly, they don’t really have a story of a little girl at the hotel. She seems playing, perhaps even a little mischievous. I wonder what Aaron has found.
When all is said and done, the evidence, what little they get, is inconclusive. There is the sound of the girl, but again, it might actually be a real girl who’s voice is carrying. They don’t capture any figures or forms, despite Zak’s insistence that all these orbs are balls of energy manifesting themselves. And the claims of witnesses are actually pretty tame. There really doesn’t seem to be any solid evidence, either through actual recorded events or personal experiences that makes this place seem all that active.
And by the way, the scrolling Twitter feed at the bottom of the screen was annoying as hell!

Here we have another compilation or recap show centered around the theme of the Old West. The guys feature clips from their Wild West adventures such as the Chollar Mine, Vulture Mine, Bird Cage Theater and others.
It’s an interesting look back, but you have to wonder, why the recap shows? Are we reaching the end of the line?

Zak and the team head to Kansas City to investigate Union Station, hub of activity during the 1900’s and location of a violent shootout when Frank Nash was being transported by Federal Agents. The officers and Nash were all killed in a shower of bullets while at the station. Reports claim to see figures moving, faucets turning on, and the figure of a man standing in the doorway. Ironically, there are no claims of seeing Nash, hearing gunshots or accounts of the shooting. To be perfectly honest, the claims of the paranormal seem very light.
So what does the investigation yield? The main investigation takes part in three floors above the station that are still unfinished. Regular folks aren’t allowed up there so that’s where the team sets up, while they wait for the rest of the station to close. The station is still in use and is fully functional until around midnight when they shut down for the night.
In the unused portion they get a voice stating that "spirits" are up there. They got one of the small orbs they enjoy so much. I have to say, there is very little activity up there and nothing conclusive to suggest the train station is haunted.
When everyone finally leaves, they bring in Tim, a skeptic and have him walk around with them for awhile. Zak feels cold air around and tries to get Tim involved. One thing to note here, Zak says the air is ice cold. ICE Cold. Tim says he feel a cool breeze. Zak is insistent that it’s freezing. In fact, instead of just letting the event unfold and letting Tim experience and decide for himself, I personally feel Zak was using the power of suggestion to almost push his will onto their visitor. He keep saying what is happening and what it means. Clearly, there is no interference by him doing that is there?
Zak then asks for whoever is there to touch one of them. Tim lifts his leg as though something has happened. Without waiting, Zak says it was the spirit. Again, Zak is pushing the results in a direction he wants them to go. Admittedly, Tim does react to something, perhaps a touch. But again, is he reacting to something, or to the thought of it, since Zak has been planting the seed of the idea almost relentlessly?
As the investigation continues they see figures roaming in the restaurant. Right off the bat this seems problematic and turns out it is. After being told the building was empty by one security guard, they come to find out it’s not empty at all. The manager and his assistant are doing inventory in the restaurant right in front of the cameras. That pretty much negates everything. Even Zak admits the scene is tainted, but still holds that something interacted with their skeptic and something spoke to them on the upper floors.
I have to say, this episode was a bust. Not only were there people walking around the entire time, but Zak is clearly pushing his will and beliefs on Tim during their time together. He probably wasn’t doing it deliberately, but from where I sit, he was all but rigging the results. And how ironic that Billy sits for an hour, captures nothing with the thermal, but as soon as Zak sits down, little specs begin to appear.
This episode has a whole lot of wishful thinking and very little else.

I have to admit that before I saw this episode I knew nothing of Robinson Jeffers. From the little snippets I’ve heard, I’m intrigued by his tone and mood. His poems and philosophy take on a supernatural element and he firmly believed that when he died, he would return to the house that he built, walk amongst the walls and buildings and speak with people there. He stated it as thought it were a certainty.
He was no stranger to the paranormal and neither was his wife Una. It is believed that she participated and held seances in the Hawk Tower. She welcomed the spirit world into her life and both she and her husband felt they needed to work with and be a part of the land rather than fighting against it.
Robinson also firmly believed that the rocks he built his home from would contain his energy. He makes several comments that these will aid his coming back and says he will investigate them and the ivy when he returns.
He had no doubt there was an afterlife and he would be able to travel around as he saw fit. It’s interesting to note that during the late 1800s and early 1900s, that Spiritualism was widely practiced and accepted. Most people of that time believed in a spirit world and make attempts to communicate.
So in a rather strange twist, Zak goes to visit the Tor House with his dog Grace. He admits he is unaware of the history of the house or that Robinson would return or that this year is the 50th anniversary of his death. Is this just an odd coincidence? Was Zak drawn to this location in order to try and make contact?
Had Robinson come back to visit the grounds of his former home, one that he built with his own two hands? As stated, his hands touched everyone of those rocks. His presence is everywhere.
As Billy Tolley is setting up the thermal camera it captures an figure standing in the doorway of the Tower. The door is closed and it doesn’t give off heat. Is this Una going up to perform a seance? Or is this a camera malfunction because of the fog rolling in from the Bay? It is interesting, but mere minutes later it will become more so.
Zak, Nick and Aaron climb the tower to Una’s room. It said this is the location for her seances. As Zak enters the room, while Aaron is still climbing, they hear someone say, "Welcome to …" Is this Una welcoming them? Has she been waiting for them to show up? Unfortunately, they don’t get much else out of that room.
They make their way to the death bed of Robinson. He knew he was dying and chose to pass in his own bed, while looking out the window to the Bay. He wrote this would be the end for him. When Zak tries to make contact and says he wants to speak with Robinson, a voice asks, "What is that?" quite possibly in reference to the recorder and Spirit Box Zak is holding. Is this Robinson asking how they are communicating?
Zak also asks how long Robinson said it would be until he came back. The answer comes across as "ghost". Not quite an answer to the question, but an response none-the-less. Was this Una answering the question?
With the evidence captured, has Robinson returned to check in? Is he making contact with visitors? They do capture what looks to be a distinct figure and some voices. While Robinson and his wife didn’t quite identify themselves or go out of their way to make their presences known, it does seem clear that if it’s possible, they have every intent of staying in the California home and sharing it with whoever else is around. I find this to be a very interesting story and would like to hear more about the poet and any activity that goes on there. I don’t know if Zak, Nick and Aaron have proved or disproved anything, but that have brought a fascinating story to our attention.
